Welcome to the LFCNA Region 7 web page.
Allow us to introduce ourselves.

Enid Rank

Thank you for the opportunity to represent Region 7 on the LFCNA Board of Directors. I am an active member of my home church, Christ Lutheran Hellertown for over 25 years. Christ Lutheran is officiated by the Pastor Phillip Spohn. Our congregation celebrated its 150th charter anniversary recently and the 50th anniversary of our church’s building. We have approximately 325 members on our church roster.

I have served as the Care Giving Ministries Team Leader for the past 13 years and accepted the staff position of Faith Community Nurse 8 years ago. I am also active on the Worship and Music team as a praise singer and team member. I collaborate with other church teams in my role as Team Leader/FCN and work with Outreach related to service project initiatives. I am grateful the Faith Community supports the Faith Community Nurse staff position as an important care giving aspect to assist the pastor, parishioners and community.

My advice to new Faith Community Nurses is to love what you are doing and to find time to care for self for a healthy work/life balance. Some of my other interests include singing, Fall football, pickleball, binge reading a Danielle Steele book, hospitality, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Rose Sutkins

I am wife, mother, grandmother, an Alpaca Farmer, a gardener, a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Coordinator, a member of our church council, a Dementia Friends Information Session Speaker, and a Registered Nurse with a  BS in Health Arts. Nice to meet you!

At the end of worship at our church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Applebachsville, PA, we say - “God has a plan & we’re it!”   I work hard at trying to listen to what God needs of me, but must confess that I would really appreciate it if He could be just a little more clear.  I am trusting that this is why you are reading my “bio” as a Director on the LFCNA Board.

I knew from a very young age that I wanted to “ be a nurse”.  First, a nurse’s aide, then an LPN & finally an RN.  I was humbled to be presented with the outstanding clinical performance award upon graduation from my RN program in 1991.  I additionally completed a BS in Health Arts from the University of St. Francis thereafter.

The first half of my nursing career I worked  in Nephrology Nursing. I developed and implemented educational programs for the new dialysis nurse, patient education for home hemodialysis & home peritoneal dialysis.

I gravitated to the post-acute care setting for the latter half of my career, working in the skilled nursing setting.  In these settings I worked in staff development/education, Nurse Aide Training Program Coordinator/Primary Instructor & Director of Nursing positions.

All that being said, God provided me with opportunities to witness & learn how meeting Spiritual needs were every bit as important as the physical needs of those that I cared for.  I have been truly blessed.

When I first heard about Parish Nursing, I wondered, what it was?  What an amazing idea! How perfect to join my love of nursing & faith into one box!  I searched out & completed the Parish Nursing Fundamentals Course at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, PA in 2008.

My goal is to educate, support, encourage & facilitate Faith Community Nursing consciousness while additionally assisting in the development of tangible programs in Faith Communities.

You will find contact information for the Directors in the Member's Only section of the website at https://lutheranfcna.org/

A Fun and Creative Community  Outreach

Dean Black, FCN at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus, PA

Our church had our annual Trunk or Treat event.  I set up a trunk with the theme  "Uplifting Spirits".  It was a fun and great way to connect to the congregation and the community.   I gave out 174 snacks for the children and for the parents I handed out the CDC Flu Guide for Parents.  I also included an RSV fact sheet.
